Both internally and externally this building has been left in it most natural raw material state, with the use of redbrick, concrete, metal and vaulted detailing. This is particularly challenging when it comes to lighting the spaces. Track and spotlights are used throughout as these allow us the flexibility to highlight the vault and red brick detailing while also illuminating the area.
The lighting in the metal stairwell is completely hidden behind the staircase by using LED strip and profile which gives it a floating appearance, while spotlights mounted beneath the half landings allow us to achieve the required lux levels for this area. The flexibility of these fittings also allow us to highlight some of the artwork along the way.
In the main stair cores which are a concrete finish, a very simple direct/indirect wall light guides your way. These fittings were finished to the Architects specified RAL colour to blend in with the surroundings.
All of the fixtures used in this project promote sustainability, and are programmed on a DALI system to ensure optimum energy saving usage.
